Dear all I got this PP 5146R brand new then for Christmas last year. It was my 2nd haute horology piece after my VC Patrimony in Sep 2012. Being the 2nd "elder" of my collection, it will always be very special for me. It is also my first and only PP now (I won't get another PP in near future as I like to diversify my collection of brands as a start except maybe a Nautilus as I quite like it). I chose the rg version as I like the cream lacquered dial with the warmth of rg. The lacquered dial is really very beautiful and I can see Patek's high level of craftsmanship here. The curves of the case is also very fluidly designed. I have other haute horology brands including a Breguet Marine, Lange Datograph and Montblanc Villeret, all of which have very finely crafted cases and dials too (and of course movements for the Villeret and Dato esp and also the VC 4400 AS movement). But Patek's curves on the case of my 5146R is really very special and comfortable to wear and feel (borderline caress in a non kinky way haha). 1 year later... the 5156 with some hairline scratches on the side of the case (the sapphire crystal being slightly taller than the case actually prevents the bezel from being scratched by cuffs) and some dirt which I need to clean off when I have the time. But also lots of bonding with me as it has been through good times and bad times with me in 2013. I feel I like this watch even more than when I first bought it and that is despite competition for my attention from other watches I have gotten in 2013. I am slowing down my watch acquisition in 2014... realized I need to spend some more time with each of those I bought in 2012 and 2013. Here're some pictures of the PP 5146R to share with all of you here. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to Oliver and all PP forum friends here! Cheers Robin Wong

About the Patek Philippe Patek Philippe 5146/1J-001 Ref. 5146

The Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Moon Phases reference 5146, introduced in 2005, represents a significant offering in the brand's annual calendar complication lineage. This reference succeeded the popular 5035 and 5036 models, refining the aesthetic and technical presentation of the annual calendar with moon phases. It is characterized by its balanced dial layout, integrating day, date, month, moon phase, and power reserve indications in a legible and harmonious arrangement. The 5146 was produced in various precious metals, establishing itself as a core model within Patek Philippe's complicated watch collection for many years.

This particular iteration of the 5146 is presented in an 18k yellow gold case, measuring 39mm in diameter. It houses the self-winding Patek Philippe Caliber 324 S IRM QA LU, a movement known for its reliability and precision, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for swimming or diving.

The reference 5146 appeals to collectors seeking a sophisticated daily wearable complication from Patek Philippe. Its annual calendar mechanism requires adjustment only once a year, at the end of February, offering practical convenience. The model was available with several dial variations and case materials throughout its production run, which concluded around 2020. The yellow gold variant with a silvery opaline dial offers a classic and understated presentation, aligning with traditional Patek Philippe aesthetics.

That is the way it has to be, with watches which live with us. There are chapters of your common life you are writing together, or, at least, with it. ;) It is always good to re evaluate your feelings, after a while, and it is even better when the feeling gets stronger. It is also very interesting for the others to read your owner's thoughts. Thnak you so much for your post. Nicolas

Glad to know that you are still in love with your watch and the love is growing. I acquired a PP 5205 around the same time last year. But for some reason, the watch has not really grown on me. Strange thing, this hobby of ours. Have a blessed Christmas. Regards, iAn PS. Still very much in love with the 5712 though.

were to buy a PP, I would buy this for sure. Its great to have a collection diversified across brands, like you do. And I wonder what PP will come out with next year since it is their 175th.

Sorry for the grammatical typo with an extra "that" but you got what I mean. It's a journey for sure with all our watches and the bonds and stories I share with my watches will be passed down to my kids in future. Thanks for your encouraging words once again Nicolas Cheers Robin
