A lot of you guys really encouraged me to pick up my pieces even though they were halfway across the world. So I did, and it was quite worth the long trip. I finally got the time to really take some pictures yesterday so I thought I'd share with you guys here.

Trying it on for the first time. Note that it hasn't been wound and adjusted at all.

Date is changing Sunday night.

Came with a bunch of other goodies like this travel box, a pen, loupe, and gloves. This was really nice because not every AD is so generous with these giveaways.

Mesmerizing. A friend joked that I should wear it upside down from time to time=)

I also picked up my 5960P-015, here's picture so it doesn't feel neglected:

Some immediate notes comparing these two:
  • The 5204, even though having more complications than the 5960, is noticeably lighter.
  • The strap on the 5960 is thicker
  • Pushers on the 5204 are extremely smooth. Pushing the return to zero button is completely effortless, as if no gears are actually engaged.
  • I think there is some luminous material on the very very tip of the chronograph hands, but I haven't confirmed this.
  • Resetting the chronograph on the 5960 is a bit "stiff", but it's great that it can be kept running without wearing on the gear train

Overall, a very happy camper but way over this year's budget for watches. Now need to find the Misses something to make myself feel less guilty!

About the Patek Philippe Split-Seconds Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5204

Patek Philippe Reference 5204 Split-Seconds Chronograph Perpetual Calendar

The Reference 5204 combines split-seconds chronograph functionality with perpetual calendar complications in a 40mm case format. This reference represents Patek Philippe's approach to integrating dual chronograph timing capabilities with complete calendar functions, positioning it as a grand complication within the manufacture's lineup.

The 40mm case is available in 18k white gold or rose gold with polished bezel treatment and sapphire crystal. The manual-winding Caliber R CH 27 PS QI provides 48 hours of power reserve. Dial options include silvery-gray or silvery-opaline finishes, paired with alligator leather straps. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters.

Produced from 2012 to 2019, the 5204 appeals to collectors seeking complications beyond standard chronographs or simple perpetual calendars. The split-seconds function adds timing versatility while maintaining the traditional manual-winding operation characteristic of high-end chronograph manufacture. The reference serves collectors prioritizing mechanical complexity and dual precious metal case options.

So happy for you, you did well to go pick it up, its a fantastic watch, a real grail, the kind of watch that makes you feel that you don't need anything else. As for the 5960P, its the daily version :P But i would wear the 5204P on a daily basis. It looks great on your wrist. Wear it in good health!

I've heard that there have been variations on the blue on the 015, perhaps a first and second production run? Has anyone else heard this?
