Dje shares an exclusive hands-on experience with the Patek Philippe Ref. 5207R, the pink gold version of the instantaneous perpetual calendar. This post offers a rare glimpse into one of Patek Philippe's most complicated timepieces, highlighting its intricate caliber, acoustic quality, and wrist presence. Dje's detailed impressions provide valuable insights for collectors interested in haute horlogerie.
A few years ago
I had the chance to attend the presentation of the new Patek Philippe 5207 P at
Baselworld. It was a great time but I had no opportunity to touch an assembled
watch, just a calibre.
This year Patek
Philippe presented a pink gold version of the same watch. And this time I
offered myself an opportunity to see it more closely. I was not deceived.

I was not
deceived by this extraordinary watch. The level of complication is a summit in
the Patek Philippe range for me. The quality of the acoustics is also really
excellent.
I was really
seduced by the fit on my wrist. I really much prefer this one to the 5213. Of
course I'd love to try the platinum version someday, but this pink gold
black dial option was already quite tempting.
This design is
very much understated for such a complicated piece and I find this two tone
presentation even more striking than the copper coloured dial of the platinum.
The rounded
case is like a chunk of warmness. The pink gold colour increases the sensuality
of the soft forms.
The watch is
clearly not thick for a minute repeater tourbillon wristwatch with
instantaneous perpetual calendar. That's in these upscale highly
complicated watches that Patek Philippe best shows its excellence.
In fact this
watch can be seen as a possible (nearly) everyday watch. It's a tried and
true calibre, a rare Patek Philippe certified chronometre.
Some may not
like the decorated lugs, and they are not the best part of this watch of
course. Still I could and they probably could do with them.
The tourbillon
version of the Patek Philippe minute repeater calibre is also even more
appealing than the automatic non tourbillon seen on the 5213. Most of us will
quite certainly never reach this level of mechanics on the wrist every day, but
this kind of piece will always make us dream!

It's time
to pick your choice.

The reference 5207 represents Breguet's approach to the tourbillon complication within the Classique collection. This manual-wind timepiece positions itself as part of the brand's Tourbillon series, offering the visual spectacle of the rotating escapement in a traditional round case format.
The 39mm case is crafted from 18k rose gold and fitted with a sapphire crystal. The silver dial provides contrast against the warm-toned case material. A manual-winding movement powers the timepiece, requiring daily winding to maintain operation. The fixed bezel maintains clean proportions, while 30-meter water resistance provides basic protection against moisture.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a tourbillon complication in precious metal with traditional proportions. The 39mm case size accommodates most wrist sizes without excessive presence. The combination of rose gold case and silver dial offers visual contrast for those preferring warm metal tones with neutral dial colors. The manual movement requires engagement from the wearer through regular winding.
I saw the 5207P some time ago .... gorgeous ! These are pics I took ( if this link is not allowed, please delete) Sorry Bruno but as per forum rule's, as you point on your site towards several watch related websites, among them several unfriendly to us, and do not post towards us either, I've deleted your link. Thank you for your understanding. Dje Links to other websites: Like any site, we are strongly against shilling of any kind, on our site to other sites, or on other sites to ours. Here shi
Truly breathtaking. What a wonderful watch and such terrific complications in a beautifully presented package! OpC
Thanks for the report and pictures. Sebastiaan.
I remember the showcase at Baselworld, this one is maybe more striking but the Platinum version is so amazing. The copper dial is an absolute marvel, more subtle, refined and so classy. It is one of my top dream Patek with the 5070P , and the celestial. cheers Francois
The moment I laid my eyes on it. It is my grail piece and I hope to buy one someday.
between the 5207 and 5213? i actually quite like the case engraving, and certainly on the slider, acts as additional grip and friction. thanks for bringing u this great piece. best, Horo
