Dear watch-friends!

Happy to present you my newest family member.

This is my first Regulator-style watch. It takes a little time to get used to but it is a very nice experience after a few days with great character.

Personally, I never expected that I would add this watch to my collection but since I saw it in person I was sold. Also the subtle 'blue theme' in this watch is something I did not really noticed before I saw the 5235G in the flesh for the first time. As I love blue it was love at first sight.

What a great movement the calibre 31-260 is. The 5235 is still the only serially- produced PP movement with a silicon escapement (Pulsomax) and silicon hairspring (Spiromax).

And last but not least of course that dial finish; The vertical brushing in three different dial tones goes from bright white on the outside minute track, to dark grey in the center combined with recessed guilloche finished white sub-dials. This is a very nice feature that gives the 5235G a very unique character.

IMHO an interesting package in a 40.5mm case with a useful complication and a dial that just never bores.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Have a nice friday.

Best regards,

H

About the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator Ref. 5235

The Patek Philippe reference 5235 Annual Calendar Regulator introduced a distinctive display format to the brand's annual calendar complication. This model features a regulator-style dial, separating the hours, minutes, and seconds into distinct subdials. The central hand indicates minutes, while the hours are displayed in a subdial at 12 o'clock and the running seconds in a subdial at 6 o'clock. This layout provides a clear, uncluttered presentation of time and calendar information, distinguishing it from other annual calendar offerings.

The watch is housed in an 18k white gold case measuring 40.5 mm in diameter and 10 mm in thickness. It is powered by the self-winding caliber 31-260 REG QA, a movement specifically developed for this regulator display. This movement provides a power reserve ranging from 38 to 48 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on both the front and an exhibition case back, offering a view of the movement. It is water resistant to 30 meters.

First appearing in 2011, the 5235 appeals to collectors seeking a Patek Philippe annual calendar with a unique aesthetic. The regulator display, while historically rooted, offers a contemporary interpretation within the brand's complicated watch lineup. Its production run has seen it offered primarily in this white gold configuration, making it a consistent and recognizable piece for those who appreciate its specific technical and design characteristics.

Glad the 5235 line finally seems to be attracting the attention of collectors, perhaps also because of the recent introduction of a beautiful R version. Did you have a chance to compare both at your AD before purchasing? I'd love to be able to see them together in the metal, though I'm sure the G pretty soon will be impossible to find at ADs. Enjoy!

The 5235 is probably the most underrated current Patek. I personally think it’s fantastic and a true outlier in the catalogue. Wear it in the best of health!

The regulator IMO is one of the better new references in the past few years, especially with its movement, hacking second function, and brushed dial. Enjoy it often !

Unfortunately I have not seen the 'R' yet. Only on photos. It looks very nice. For myself I think the G is a better color combination than the R. Can't wait to see one though. Hopefully soon I can post a comparison of the two versions! Or maybe someone has done this already? In that case feel free to share please ;-) Best regards, H
