This discussion explores the nuances of Patek Philippe's annual calendar models, weighing aesthetic appeal against market value and collector sentiment.

Patek Philippe Reference 5396
The Reference 5396 represents Patek Philippe's annual calendar offering within the Annual Calendar with Moon Phase series. This 38.5mm reference provides the annual calendar complication combined with moon phase indication, positioning it as a complex calendar watch that requires manual correction only once per year in February.
The watch features an 18k white gold case measuring 38.5mm in diameter with a smooth bezel and sapphire crystal. The automatic Caliber 324 S IRM QA LU provides 45 hours of power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is fitted with a leather strap.
In production since 2006, the Reference 5396 appeals to collectors seeking Patek Philippe's annual calendar complication in white gold. The 38.5mm case size offers contemporary wearability while the moon phase adds visual interest to the calendar display. This reference serves collectors prioritizing complicated timepieces with practical daily calendar functions.
I though seriously about getting one a while back. My biggest hesitation was that I truly wanted a Perpetual Calendar, so I held out for the 5320g. What you are looking at is such a fine , classically styled watch. You wonβt go wrong!
I own a few nautilus including the 5711 (lucky i got all mine before all the craziness began) π π¬
blue dial due to the repeat color, but I must talk you into the 5396 brown dial with R bracelet, which is a perfect match ! So warm looking !
i like the watch, however it really bothers me that the hands permanently obscure the view on the 24 on the sub dial. Seems strange but that makes it for me a no go. Did I succeed π? Dirk
Rhetorical question.... Both are amazing, personally think the blue dial R with stones is exceptionally beautiful.... good luck choosing!
If I pull the trigger it will be the brown one anyway. Love the combo with the full rose gold.
