Clueless_Collector shares the exhilarating experience of acquiring two Patek Philippe New York special edition watches, the Ref. 5522A and Ref. 7200/50G, following the Grand Exhibition. This post captures the joy of securing highly coveted pieces and the personal significance of adding a first Calatrava to a collection.

Most of us remember the Grand Exhibition by Patek Philippe in July  and seen some of the special edition watches for the event. There were a lot of nice reviews on those watches and event so I’ll skip that part.

I had the chance to be invited by PuristSPro and Tiffany to attend a very memorable evening, meeting friendly and nice PuristSPro members.

After the event, I asked Tiffany to help get 4 of the NY edition watches, 5230G, 7130G, 5522A and 7200/50G-011 for me. Although I didn’t get allocations for all, I got the 5522A and the 7200/50G, which I’m super happy already. The 5230G will seal the dream for a Patek Philippe WT, even if without those elusive cloisonné enamel ones.

Back in Sep, my boss got her 1st Calatrava and now it’s finally my turn 😁.

The timing of the call cannot be better, so here it is, my first Calatrava as well, 5522A.

The watch dial is very clean, no date and the raised applied numerals were done nicely, good contrast. Case size is good for a Pilot style watch, very versatile for jeans, so far I wore it casually.

This year I have been very good....Santa is here again 🎉

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

What an exciting moment

First time doing the honors of cutting a Patek seal 😊

Ta-daaa...

Something for everyone, a Tiffany Diamond T for her and ordered a RG Hardware bracelet as well.

Finally together...

Love the micro rotor of the 7200/50G

The 324SC is nice too.

Also got a generous gift from Tiffany, The Authorized Biography by Nicholas Foulkes, great for holiday reading.

Happy family - Merry Christmas to you, my friends here

Nice lume

About the Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5230

The Patek Philippe Complications Reference 5230G-001 is a World Time model, succeeding the popular 5130 reference. This iteration updates the city disk to reflect changes in global time zones, notably replacing Caracas with La Paz and Dubai with Moscow, ensuring accuracy for contemporary international travel. The watch maintains the brand's tradition of offering a highly legible and functional world time display, a complication for which Patek Philippe holds a significant historical association.

This timepiece features an 18k white gold case measuring 38.5 mm in diameter and 10.23 mm in thickness. It houses the self-winding Caliber 324 S C FUS movement, which provides a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on both the front and the display back, offering a view of the meticulously finished movement. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear.

The opaline white dial provides a clear backdrop for the city and 24-hour rings, with a central guilloché pattern adding visual depth. The watch is presented on an alligator leather strap, complementing its refined aesthetic. The 5230 series appeals to collectors interested in practical complications and Patek Philippe's ongoing development of its World Time lineage, with variants available in different precious metals.
