CastorKrieg's recent experience with Patek Philippe service for his Aquanaut Ref. 5167A highlights the exceptional, often unexpected, level of immediate care available at Patek Philippe Salons. This account offers valuable insight into the brand's commitment to client satisfaction and the unique, personal touch that defines their service philosophy, particularly for minor issues. It underscores why Patek Philippe's direct service centers are so highly regarded by collectors.

Well, that was fast...

As you know last week I noticed my 5167A stopped running. Upon closer inspection the balance wheel was locked in place which meant the watch could not be wound.

So today I went to the Paris Salon to get it fixed. I fully expected to have to deposit the watch for some time while they check what was wrong but a skilled watchmaker on staff immediately spotted the problem - one of the screws holding the case became loose. He explained this was most likely done on the manufacturing stage - either the screw was too tight or too loose. Basically ‘hey, your watch is made by real people. Sometimes a watchmaker will screw up’.

No issues here, if I wanted a manufactured good I would have gotten Apple Watch.

All in all a rather lovely 45 minutes with a free coffee while I had the ‘guilty pleasure’ of listening to at least 3 people coming in asking for an Aquanaut or a Nautilus.

About the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5167

Patek Philippe Aquanaut Reference 5167

The Reference 5167 represents the 40mm stainless steel iteration within Patek Philippe's Aquanaut model line. Introduced in 2007 and remaining in current production, this reference features a black dial and establishes the standard sizing for the steel Aquanaut offering.

The 40mm stainless steel case houses the automatic Caliber 324 S C movement, providing 45 hours of power reserve. The watch incorporates a sapphire crystal and smooth bezel configuration. Water resistance extends to 120 meters, while the distinctive composite rubber strap displays an embossed check pattern that complements the case design.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking contemporary Patek Philippe sports watch execution in stainless steel. The 5167 offers entry into the Aquanaut model range while maintaining the manufacturing standards associated with the Geneva manufacture. Its ongoing production status ensures availability through authorized channels for both new collectors and those expanding existing collections.

If it was more complicated I would have been understanding as well - arguing about a watch repair process is not really one of my priorities in life

I expected the issue to be relatively minor, still happy I got the watch back immediately.

Don’t know if you were the ‘Lebanese’ but keep at it - I got 5712 as my first Patek after 18 months so things like this are possible!

I'm on the wait list for a 5767A. I don't live in France " hegaxonal" so every now and then I send them an email and when I'm in Paris I pay a visit to the boutique. Someone introduce you to the boutique? Or you just walked in and asked?

And since this happened at the Paris Salon, I can only confirm what you said with a short but meaningful story: once that my girlfriend went to Paris by herself, I asked her to drop by the Salon and just say hi for me (Note: they never saw HER before at that Salon). Here’s the WhatsApp picture she sent me from Place Vendone on her way out...This is the Patek way, and why people love this brand!😉🥂
