Patrick_y initiates a fascinating discussion on the unexpected naming choice for a new Patek Philippe timepiece: 'Cubitus.' This article delves into the community's immediate reactions and interpretations of the name, exploring its medical connotations and how it aligns, or perhaps clashes, with the brand's esteemed image. Patrick_y's original post challenges readers to consider the emotional and conceptual impact of a watch's name.

Cubitus is a strange name...  Sure, I was totally expecting a rectangular or square watch.  But why name it Cubitus?  Sounds like a disease to me.  Something inspired from aviation, the sea, outer space, or the mountains would be more apropos.  Stellarnaut!  Solarnaut!  Astronaut - oh wait, that's already a word with a deep meaning.

What does the word Cubitus sound like to you?  What kind of emotions do you get?  What were you expecting?  And what are your thoughts of the new Patek Philippe Cubitus?
Haven't seen the Cubitus?  Here's a link to the advertisement discussion on WatchProSite...

I like your way of thinking! I think it's a disease, and you think it's a fictional comic book villain!

I didn't know it was the ulna! I looked up Cubitus dog and saw some of the comics. I like the comic, this is one clever dog! Thank you for this!

But the name reminds me of the German word for sexual intercourse: Koitus 😆
