Aperna's journey into vintage Patek Philippe collecting, culminating in the acquisition of a 'Disco Volante' Calatrava from his birth year, offers a compelling narrative for both seasoned collectors and those new to vintage timepieces. His initial apprehension about the 'unknown' in vintage collecting, and how he overcame it with expert guidance, resonates with many enthusiasts. This article explores the unique appeal of this specific Patek Philippe reference and the community's appreciation for such a personal and horologically significant acquisition.

For the longest period of time I have been wanting to acquire a special piece from my birth year. Collecting vintage pieces has never been a forte of mine. I was always afraid of the unknown. However, with the help and support of a worldly connoisseur in this arena and in particular the Calatrava I was able to move forward and feel comfortable with my decision.

Thank you all who are part of this wonderful community and who share this passion. Thank you Roni M For all your help and guidance

With sincerity and respect, Tony
