In this insightful post, cbb, honoring Chamnong Bhirombhakdi, shares a personal account of returning to Geneva for a Patek Philippe collectors' gathering after a three-year hiatus. His reflections offer a unique glimpse into the brand's community events, development plans, and the excitement of acquiring highly anticipated timepieces. Readers will appreciate his candid impressions of the controversial Patek Philippe Ref. 5711 green dial and the technically sophisticated Ref. 5326G.

Hello All,

Finally after close to 3 years, I was able to go to Geneva again to attend the dinner reception with fellow collectors, Patek management team and a visit of PP6.  Food and wine were great as always while meeting and interacting with fellow collectors was even better!  Seeing many eye candy was so much fun!  Information about the Patek’s development plans is always an important part of the annual gathering.  Naturally catching up with TS is an integral portion of the annual rituals.

Additionally, the sweetest moment part was the ability to pick up some overdue and new pieces which made the trip so worthwhile and exciting! 😊

The 5711 green giant did not disappoint, although it is kind of a controversial piece.  The color definitely behaves like a chameleon.  It can be quite dark and subtle indoors and comes alive in the sun.  I am now tempted to be double-wristed to have green on one wrist and blue on another.  Just need to do so in a safe environment.

The 5326G textured dial is just WOW, reminding me of classic German camera!  The charcoal “granular structure” worked like a charm. I fell in love with the picture when it was launched, and the real piece did not disappoint me! In fact, the pictures don’t do justice.  The Clous de Paris on the case adds an artistic angle to this piece and rounds its out perfectly.  The complications are also very functional. The platinum Winding rotor is the first of its kind on this caliber 31-260 PS QA LU FUS 24 HR and the new Travel Time mechanism can correct the date forward or backward. The time piece came with beige calf skin but I made it more fun with bright orange strap.

The 5205R olive green dial against a Rose case is also very lovely, although I must admit that it didn’t catch my attention at the first glance.  However, when I saw it again under the light, I just couldn’t take my eyes away from it! The vivid green pierces through, and the day, date, month apertures on the dial reminded me so much of my dad’s 1st Grand Complication love, 5207P.  So 5205R is a good start for a small league like me 😅 for the time being.

The 5990R needs no introduction as this heavy weight piece has a very nice heft indeed.  Wearing this piece to me can be considered a work out on the arm and a good way to make my statement with the boys 💪🏼 🤣   The blue dial speaks loudly and brightly bringing out the intensity of the rose gold.

I am still “fighting” for a piece from rare handcrafts and hope something will come through.  Wish me luck please!

About the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711

The Patek Philippe reference 5711/1A-011, part of the Complications collection, is distinguished by its white dial, offering a different aesthetic compared to other dial variations within the 5711 series. This particular configuration provides a clean and legible presentation, appealing to collectors who prefer a more understated yet refined look. It represents a specific iteration of a well-known Patek Philippe model, recognized for its integrated design.

The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber 26-330 SC movement. This movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, contributing to its water resistance of 120 meters. The fixed bezel and integrated bracelet are characteristic elements of its construction.

This reference appeals to collectors interested in the evolution of Patek Philippe's offerings, particularly those seeking specific dial colors within established model lines. Its production run from 2019 to 2021 marks it as a relatively recent, yet now discontinued, variant. The watch's specifications align with Patek Philippe's standards for mechanical timepieces.

The 5326G is my favourite amongst your pickups, just feel it is a novel and well-designed watch for Patek. It's great for me to see that you're continuing the the Patek collecting traditions started by your father, just as Thierry Stern has taken up his family's responsibility to guide the storied manufactory. Generational continuity in watch collecting is never an expectation amongst collectors. I'm sure your father would be wishing for fortune to smile upon you in your efforts to a special rar
