Nicolas (amanico) presents the Patek Philippe Ref. 5111PR, a distinctive rectangular timepiece that challenges conventional Patek Philippe aesthetics. His appreciation for its platinum and rose gold combination and solid case back highlights how this reference offers a unique blend of classicism and romance, making it a compelling subject for collectors seeking something beyond the brand's more common designs.

The Patek Philippe reference 5111 is a distinctive rectangular wristwatch, notable for its strong design and unusual case and dial aesthetics. It stands apart from more traditional Patek Philippe designs, offering a unique profile that some collectors find reminiscent of certain Art Deco-inspired timepieces. This reference represents a less commonly encountered facet of Patek Philippe's catalog, appealing to those seeking a watch with a pronounced individual character rather than a conventional round form. Its design details, though subtle, contribute to its unique presence on the wrist.
The reference 5111 features a substantial case, measuring 33 x 48 mm, which provides a significant wrist presence for a rectangular watch. It is powered by the manual-winding Patek Philippe caliber 215 PS, a movement known for its reliability and slim profile. The case was produced in white gold, as seen in the 5111G-001 variant. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting the dial and offering clear legibility.
This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate Patek Philippe's willingness to explore diverse design languages beyond its more celebrated round models. Its relatively uncommon status in the secondary market suggests it may be a niche interest, yet its unique design ensures it holds a specific appeal for those drawn to its particular aesthetic. The 5111 offers a different perspective on Patek Philippe's craftsmanship and design philosophy, making it a noteworthy piece for a comprehensive collection.
I am still completely speechless after seeing the 5101P (Gondolo Tourbillon Salmon Dial) of mahesh. Best Thomas
I once had the white gold version and I have good memories.
what's NOT to like about it? 👍👍
There is as far as I know a white and a blue dialed version. And one with a grey dial in RG. But unfortunately no salmon dial (just the 5124G has one but without 10 days PR). Best Thomas
Unfortunately a tad too big for my wrist. Lots of roll
I prefer the 5124 Gondolos. Both the salmon and blue dials are lovely.
