Emmanuel, known as quattro on WatchProSite, provides an invaluable look into the exclusive Patek Philippe collection created to honor the 225th anniversary of Hausmann & Co. in Rome. His detailed post, rich with imagery, serves as a crucial reference for collectors interested in these rare timepieces. This article synthesizes community insights, offering a deeper appreciation for Patek Philippe's commitment to its historical partners and the artistry behind these limited editions.
In
2019, on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of
Hausmann & Co. (Roman watch and jewellery store and historical partner), as well as the opening of a new Boutique via dei Condotti, Patek Philippe created an exclusive collection of 5 timepieces, honouring its long-standing partner and the city of
Rome.
Because it was a 225th anniversary, these timepieces were limited in the following way, playing with the lexical construction of the number 225:
- Two: each of the two Rare Handcrafts is a piece unique
- Hundred: each of the two Calatravas is limited to 50 pcs
- Twenty-five: the World Time is limited to 25 pcs
Aesthetically, I'm not sure about the Calatravas with the single Roman twelve, nor about the red-purple World Time (a color considered distinctive of Rome), but I find the two Rare Handcrafts very beautiful.
Best to you all,
Emmanuel

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5089
The Patek Philippe Reference 5089 is a series of Rare Handcrafts timepieces, often produced in extremely limited editions or as unique pieces. These references are distinguished by their intricate decorative arts, such as enameling, engraving, or marquetry, applied to the dial or case. They represent Patek Philippe's commitment to preserving traditional artisanal techniques within contemporary watchmaking, positioning them as highly collectible examples of decorative horology rather than standard production models.
These timepieces typically feature a precious metal case, often white gold or rose gold, housing a self-winding mechanical movement. The specific caliber varies depending on the individual execution, but it is always finished to Patek Philippe's exacting standards. The crystal is consistently sapphire, providing clear visibility of the meticulously crafted dial. Water resistance is generally modest, reflecting the artistic nature of the watch rather than its utility in demanding environments.
Collector relevance for the 5089 series stems from its extreme rarity and the unique artistic expression each piece embodies. These watches appeal to collectors who prioritize artisanal craftsmanship and exclusivity, often seeking out specific themes or decorative techniques. The 2019 collection for Hausmann & Co.'s 225th anniversary, for example, highlights the potential for bespoke creations and regional tributes within this reference family, further enhancing their desirability and historical significance.

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 5130
The Patek Philippe Complications reference 5130, introduced in 2006, is a World Time watch that succeeded the popular reference 5110. This model maintained the distinctive World Time complication, allowing for simultaneous display of time in 24 different time zones. Its design evolved with a slightly larger case and updated dial aesthetics, distinguishing it from its predecessor while retaining the core functionality that defines Patek Philippe's travel timepieces. It was produced until 2017.
The watch features an 18k rose gold case measuring 39.5mm in diameter and 9.8mm in thickness, housing the self-winding Caliber 240 HU movement. This ultra-thin movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back, provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The dial is silver or opaline with a guilloché center, protected by a sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.
Reference 5130 appeals to collectors seeking a sophisticated travel complication from Patek Philippe. Its larger case size compared to the 5110 offered a more contemporary presence on the wrist, while its classic World Time mechanism remained a hallmark of the brand's technical prowess. The model was available in various precious metals, with the rose gold variant offering a warm aesthetic.
