In 2019, on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of Hausmann & Co. (Roman watch and jewellery store and historical partner), as well as the opening of a new Boutique via dei Condotti, Patek Philippe created an exclusive collection of 5 timepieces, honouring its long-standing partner and the city of Rome.

Because it was a 225th anniversary, these timepieces were limited in the following way, playing with the lexical construction of the number 225:
  • Two: each of the two Rare Handcrafts is a piece unique
  • Hundred: each of the two Calatravas is limited to 50 pcs
  • Twenty-five: the World Time is limited to 25 pcs
Aesthetically, I'm not sure about the Calatravas with the single Roman twelve, nor about the red-purple World Time (a color considered distinctive of Rome), but I find the two Rare Handcrafts very beautiful.

On this site, the Calatravas have been reviewed by foversta in 2021 and this 'Hausmann collection' was presented by FabR in 2020.

Best to you all,
Emmanuel

About the Patek Philippe Ref. 2484

The Patek Philippe Reference 2484 is a notable example of the brand's mid-century production, often characterized by its classic proportions and understated design. This reference typically features a time-only display, emphasizing legibility and traditional watchmaking aesthetics. It represents a period when Patek Philippe solidified its reputation for producing high-quality, enduring dress watches, appealing to collectors who value historical design and mechanical integrity over overt complications.

Constructed with precious metals, the case of the Reference 2484 generally houses a manually wound mechanical movement. The specific caliber would have been a reliable and well-finished mechanism, consistent with Patek Philippe's standards of the era. The watch typically features a domed or flat crystal, contributing to its slim profile and comfortable wear. Its dimensions are in line with mid-20th century preferences for more modestly sized timepieces.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a pure expression of Patek Philippe's design language from the 1950s. Its simplicity allows the quality of its construction and finishing to stand out. While not a limited edition in its original production, specific dial configurations or case variations can influence its collectibility. The 2484 is a testament to Patek Philippe's enduring commitment to traditional watchmaking.
