ZSHSZ poses a compelling question to the WatchProSite community: whether to trade three highly sought-after Rolex models—a Daytona Ceramic White, a Hulk, and a Batman—plus $5,000 for a Vacheron Constantin Malte Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Platinum Ref. 47112. This scenario ignites a robust debate on value, wearability, and collection strategy.

Patek Philippe Reference 5396
The Reference 5396 represents Patek Philippe's annual calendar offering within the Annual Calendar with Moon Phase series. This 38.5mm reference provides the annual calendar complication combined with moon phase indication, positioning it as a complex calendar watch that requires manual correction only once per year in February.
The watch features an 18k white gold case measuring 38.5mm in diameter with a smooth bezel and sapphire crystal. The automatic Caliber 324 S IRM QA LU provides 45 hours of power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is fitted with a leather strap.
In production since 2006, the Reference 5396 appeals to collectors seeking Patek Philippe's annual calendar complication in white gold. The 38.5mm case size offers contemporary wearability while the moon phase adds visual interest to the calendar display. This reference serves collectors prioritizing complicated timepieces with practical daily calendar functions.
why are you asking us??
Have you thought about the short/mid/long term ownership of a complicated watch like the VC? Besides the chronograph function, the VC may be similar to your 5396G. You seem to be fond of Rolex, perhaps keep the Daytona or Batman, trade the rest?
why not trade the VC PC with this PCC? I just think you’ll regret trading 3 much harder to get Rolexes with this VC which is relatively easy to attain. On the other hand, if this VC PCC is your dream or grail and you can take advantage of your Rolex pieces appreciation to achieve your grail, why not?
Ideally keeping one of them would be great, but sometimes when a watch plays the "siren song", everything goes out the window.
IF you cannot do the trade this way, then why not... 3 Rolex for this Vacheron, which is one of the more exquisite Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. With a hinged case back, if my memory serves me well. Did you see it in the metal? It is a 39 mm case, which is perfect to me, but a bit small for others, and big, with a 14 mm height. I tried it in platinum and loved it. But you won't sell it as easily as the three Rolex you want to trade, so you'd better be sure... Best, Nicolas
Keep the Hulk and Daytona
