Amanico's initial review of the Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture 170th Anniversary edition sparked considerable discussion among collectors. His post highlights the watch's unique combination of an enamel dial and a steel case, a rarity in modern watchmaking. The community's engagement largely centered on a single design element, offering a nuanced perspective on aesthetic choices in luxury timepieces.

A smart offer from Ulysse Nardin: An enamel dial in a steel case!

Here is the all new Classico Manufacture.

Here you have:

A 40 mm steel case, which is 9, 60 mm high. That sounds quite promising, in terms of proportions.

A manufactured movement, automatic, with silicium hairspring and anchor escapement, with a power reserve of 48 hours.

An enamel grand feu dial, with blue roman numbers and hands.

And, sadly, from my point of view, a date. Ok, it is an Ulysse Nardin Watch, and you can always set it backwards and forwards, but still, this date breaks the beauty, the purity of this very elegant and attractive dial.

It is also said that this model has a see through case back. Which I would like to see, but official pictures are not available, yet.

A smart offer, because an enamel dial in a steel case is not something you often see in the modern production.

Which will, I hope, have a positive impact on the price.

This watch is a limited edition of 170 pieces, to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the brand.

So, all in all, this is a watch I will be impatient to discover in the real, with a big regret: Without the date, no doubt, it would certainly be a watch I would dream to add in my collection. With the date, I have to see it in the flesh.

Best,

Nicolas

I am not a big fan of UN in general (I just really love the Freak Diavolo) but this new model...

...is really nice (hands, numerals and lugs) because it offers a perfect equilibrium. Like you if I want to find a negative point, it will be the date (too small in my opinion and not really useful) but you are right... it is in the UN DNA so...

I think the lugs are the best part of this watch. They give you a little taste of the past but as you certainly know in French: "la mode est un éternel recommencement" ;-) [nt]
