Ref: Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
For Sale: Patek Philippe 5970P. Perpetual calendar chronograph in platinum watch with the cherished Lemania movement. Own a piece of Patek Philippe history! Asking $298,888 USD.
Provenance: The watch was sold by an authorized dealer in USA. I am representing The Seller, who is a close personal friend of mine.
Why this watch matters to a collection: this is one of the most recent Neo-vintage Patek Philippe timepieces; made and sold in 2009, this watch is one of the finest examples of Patek Philippe's grand complications. The Lemania movement pieces were never made in high quantities; and limited mainly to the 5970 reference and only one other reference. The movement has since been replaced by a Patek Philippe in-house movement that is now in the 5270 - which is considered a very modern movement. The 5970's Lemania movement even beats at the classic 18,000 VPH, a romantic speed that is a pleasure to look at; while the 5270's in-house movement beats at a frenzy 28,800 VPH. The design of the 5970P is also especially charming with more classic proportions than the 5270; the case features a concave bezel (that's hard to see in the photograph) that is expertly shaped and polished for a distortion free reflection.
Watch is very complete; exterior boxes, wood presentation box, even the shipping sleeve/carton. Paperwork includes the cream envelope, the leather portfolio, the all-important Certificate of Origin (irreplaceable) confirming the 2009 sales date, and the instruction booklet. One of the most complete examples possible.
