Lange returns to San Francisco

By: CR : February 8th, 2024-03:33
Lange will open a company-owned "salon" in San Francisco in several months. The address will be 140 Geary St. but upstairs on the third floor, not at street level. I'm not sure what the "salon" concept will look like, but I assume it'll be different from ...

That’s encouraging news.

I know SF has changed a lot over the past decade. I had to go there again recently for a conference and remember someone had previously mentioned there being an App that tells you were there is a poop deposit to watch out for. I didn’t look for any app, b...

Me too

By: m2 : February 8th, 2024-16:17
Used to be there every month for work stuff. Now a lot of the people I used to meet have moved elsewhere...

As a Bay Area native…

…I’m kind of surprised. But anything to help a potential downtown revival.

I guess I'll be the odd one out...

I like SF. I think it's a great city, with good food, nice neighborhoods, and overall a good culture. Certainly there are problems and a few bad neighborhoods, but that's true of any city. I'm thrilled that Lange is opening a Salon here, and I plan to vis...

The downtown

By: Henke : February 8th, 2024-06:56
Has noticeably gotten worse since the pandemic. I wonder what the obsession with downtown boutiques is, just catering to the business audience I guess? Personally I would be much more inclined to spend some time at a cozy store in Hayes Valley or somewher...

It's true that downtown is not my favorite part of SF. But the same is true of other cities, like NYC, LA, New Orleans, etc. I understand why the brands put their boutiques where they do. I've been to LA many times, but I've never quite made it to Costa M...

Obviously can’t do a street level..

By appointment means we will check you out thoroughly before we buzz you into a heavily protected fortress where only one watch will be shown at a time and the back office will be a doubly re informed safe room. A very very secure boutique.

Yes, with watch boutiques and other retail outlets, I want to be able to walk in without prior notice.

By: CR : February 8th, 2024-17:02
From what I recall, booking appointments became more popular during the pandemic, when there was an external reason (health) to not crowd too many people into the same space. Some retail outlets continue that practice despite the abatement of the health c...

Interesting concept...

By: Dimardi : February 8th, 2024-12:42
I have heard about this new 'Salon' opening in SF from several Lange employees. It will be interesting to see the concept and overall vision, mission, and purpose of this Salon vs. a normal boutique. I would certainly make it a point to visit when I am th...

Speaking from the experience I had in Geneva Salon:

By: Langepedia : February 12th, 2024-21:03
It is of course much more comfortable than the boutique setting. It is rather like you are in your living room and just checking out watches with buddies. The view in GVA is fantastic, and has ample natural light, which is something I always miss at groun...

Salon Pics

By: jamesbutler1222 : February 28th, 2024-00:55
This is great news. I live in San Francisco and will visit once open and post pics here for everyone. There will also be a new Patek salon and a new Rolex salon as well. Patek has been pulled from our Tiffany's and Shreve & Co. in anticipation of the ...

Booked my appointment

For this Saturday…need to get my watch serviced and before this salon opened up I would have had to fly to Orange County to drop it off for service!

The Saxonia?

By: CR : March 2nd, 2024-00:43
If so, presumably they'll send it to the NYC Lange boutique for servicing (two watchmakers work in that boutique). Please let us know approximately long it will take, if they do send it there, per Dakkonmc's post about turnaround time. I have no idea how ...

Servicing time

By: Dakkonmc : March 2nd, 2024-04:11
Last year I had a watch that needed to be serviced. Lange quoted close to 9 months and Alkis was able to get it back to me within 6 months and this included watchmakers holiday. He has done some work on a few watches for me in the past 2 years. The guy do...

Yup

By: Joe_J : March 2nd, 2024-05:16
I lived in NYC 10 years ago and took it to the boutique (and I think it went to him) It was completed in <2 months Will keep you posted on timelines

It won't go to Alkis if you bring it to a Lange boutique.

By: CR : March 2nd, 2024-06:18
Alkis doesn't do boutique repairs any longer due to the high-volume workload. It'll go to the Lange-authorized watchmakers who work at the NYC boutique if you drop it off at the SF salon. They handle all the repairs from all boutiques now.

Service timelines

By: Joe_J : March 3rd, 2024-01:10
They quoted 4-6 months which I didn’t think was too bad Overall the salon was as expected. Modern, great service and good collection of pieces to try on Only negative was an Uber driver pulled irresponsibly into traffic and hit me. 😑 ...

Oh no! I hope you're okay!

By: CR : March 3rd, 2024-01:33
That's awful. Maybe the first SF Lange salon customer to get PTSD during the course of a visit! 4-6 months is pretty normal. Hopefully closer to 4. Did anything surprise you about any of the pieces you tried on?

Not really…

By: Joe_J : March 4th, 2024-01:50
I think the lighting was so good that every piece looked amazing. My Saxonia hadn’t looked that good since 2013!

Great visit to the San Francisco boutique.

By: jamesbutler1222 : March 4th, 2024-22:37
I had a great visit to the boutique and met Andre, a super informative associate and extremely knowledgable. Enjoy! ...
