Sorry, but ...
I don't find this day-night plus moon phase particularly clever or elegant. For one thing, it gives 12 hour "days" which is almost always wrong. And I think that most future owners of this watch will miss seeing the starry sky disk on their wrists. Near new moons you will see a big blue blank disk most of the time that you look at your watch. Sad. -pay

But I found one pic which illustrates what I mean (look at the bottom of the moon).. the moon is attached to the pivot via a ledge.. At full moon, it may be more obvious.. In any case it's a clever and elegant solution.. ...

It could also be showing just because it is macro at an angle that we might never see without a loupe.... lets await a full moon to see!!

A sapphire disc would shatter easily when you drop the watch and therefore I welcome the pivot solution. Lange is known to make good and also solid watches. Thank you for the post. Best Moritz

mounting the moon on a sapphire disc will certainly increase the thickness of the movement so Langes approach definitely helped in keeping the case thickness to 10mms.. More brands should do this..

I'm interested to see this in person because I wonder if I'd miss seeing the stars in the background all the time. I suspect I might. For me, those background stars are the main aesthetic appeal of the Lange 1 moonphase complication. I think I'd prefer to...
