I have both watches in platinum.....older versions like the ones you're debating. They serve different needs for me. The Lange 1 is more of an every day watch. The fpj is unique - dial, movement etc. very convenient for travel and the dial is decidedly not boring (I have the ruthenium version which is particularly mesmerising). The crown of the fpj takes some getting used to given its 12 o'clock location but this is not an issue. The Lange in platinum is a heavier watch - I like that but not everyone's cup of tea. I've gotten equal "wow" comments on both watches. Sorry, I'm not being very helpful ... I want to give the lame advice of......get both!
