Decidedly, the life of the 1815 chronograph is not as peaceful as the Datograph one. The Datograph, in its simple configuration, has existed so far in two versions and the original version, introduced in 1999, was replaced only 13 years later by the Datog...

Since I already own the first one in WG, I would choose the black version. But if it was my first 1815 chronograph, I think that I would go to the Boutique Edition. I love the blue details... Thanks a lot Raymond. Fx

I disagree. I think the new black dial, white metal 1815 chrono has a lot of life in the dial, while remaining understated. Having owned the 1815 white gold chrono 2010 edition without the pulsometer I can say the case is perfect for an average wrist with... 

And for reviewing the legibility aswell.

I really like the new black dial 1815, it could be a close contender to top the original Datograph from the wish list. CC

Between these two great pieces, I would go to the original Datograph... even if the 1815 chronograph is easier to wear on a daily basis. Fx

another excellent review!! Thank you very much. I once owned the 2010 rose gold version but felt it was too heavy compared to say a 5170 but I have to admit that the movement on the Lange looks better and has more depth giving it a 3D view. I do not norma...

Is it true that the first generation of 1815 had 36 hours power reserve due to several extra parts that limited it? If so the first gen 1815 should provide better accuracy. Mine goes up to 20+ seconds in 60 hours. Maybe I shall have it unmagnetized. As fa...

Hello FX thanks for your great review and insight. I have been eyeing my first ALS Watch and this could be one. I am a bit concerned with the readability in certain light? Can you please elaborate a little bit? How bad is it in normal day to day situation...

I now want both the original and the new black dial. The original is not seen often and so charming. Thank you again for such a fulsome post and review.

I'm not a chronograph guy for my personal collection, but I think this new version of the 1815 is terrific. The black dial gives it a bit of needed sportiness.
