I agree that the silver dial does have a certain starkness, from some angles & in certain light it really is very grey, I suppose stark is an excellent choice of word for it. Yet from other angles it glints & looks very whiteish...I like it lots from some angles & not at all from others, so totally understand your preference for the dial you have chosen. Does that have differing shades from differing angles/differing ligths or is it pretty consistent?

So - Its been about 6 months I'd say without a Lange in my collection - and the first time in 5 years without a datograph variant in the stable. I missed it. The Dato - I guess I fell victim to the dial - we fell out of lust - So, I moved into the PT Dato...

It ranges - some light it can look almost taupe/beige-ish and others, deep grey with silver subdials have such nice contrast - coupled with teh blued hands. All in all, I am really happy with this datograph.
