It’s pretty hard to scratch
I don’t pay particular attention (sometimes use my shirt, etc.) and have never had an issue scratching the coating. And just about all the preowned Langes I’ve seen have been fine, too.
Interestingly, the worst crystal I’ve seen in a long time was on the rose gold/black dial Tourbillon Pour le Merite that Phillips just auctioned a few weeks ago in New York. I happened to be in town and stopped by before the auction to look at the watches during preview. At first I thought the crystal was just smudged, and after asking for a cloth and being unable to remove the blemish, I saw under a loupe that it was both blotchy (missing partial AR coating) and scratched in several places.
