Thanks for this excellent review! Perhaps this is a signal...
... that a significant number of the boutique-only editions will not be very special. As Robin said, like the Richard Lange boutique edition (WG/BH), the Sax Auto Outsize Date LE is nice enough but lacks any significant distinguishing features. Notice that the movement number in the watch you reviewed (64069) suggests that this particular movement was made around 2007 -- practically vintage! 
And aesthetically, the watch is reminiscent of the old Langematik with Big Date (shown below in YG, ref. no. 308.021).

Fully agree with the pros and cons you listed. I saw this in Watches and Wonders and whilst I agree it's beautifully crafted like all Langes and has a certain charm around it (different kind of charm I cannot explain compared to regular production Langes....

Yes, the two watches presented at W&W were LE. From the presentation of the Zeitwerk which occured in May, I don't remember any non-limited watch presented outside the SIHH. Fx

Aesthetically speaking, I find it closer to the Saxonia Automatic of 2007 even if it containts some details of the pictured Langematik. Good remark about the movement number! Fx

This watch is nearly perfect. But ALS could have embraced the oppurtunity of this limited edition to "gain ground" and do something smashing. We already talked about this but a blue or black dial would have been a great positive addition. About this dial:...

At least, we don't have here a watch with a too small subdial or a subdial too close to the center. :) I understand that this size can be a surprise but since the watch has a 37mm diameter, it is fine for me. Thanks Mark! Fx
