That's the heart of the conundrum, Peter, because . . .

 

. . . the power reserve display of the 1815 up-and-down is distinctly different from most similar displays - it traverses the circumference of almost an entire circle rather than a relatively narrow arc.  I think that the act of winding the up-and-down would be a special pleasure for that reason alone.  The seconds dial and hand are correspondingly smaller than the 1815 as well, and arguably in more appropriate proportion.  The low profile of the 1815 up-and-down has been a bit of a mystery to me, and now unfortunately it's a moot point as well.  It would be the watch to own if I wore a suit and tie to work;  fortunately, that's not the case - we have a casual dress policy . . . I get to wear t-shirts, jeans, and chukka boots!  Cordially, Art
