The best thing about the new Dato is that, at 41mm, it does not pass the limit of vulgarity.
Anything beyond 40-41 mm will shout "bad taste" in a few years from now. It already does for me.
I loved big watches 10 years ago, before they became trendy. Now i'm back to the essence of elegance. And that has always been DISCRETION.

and I must say I'm really doing fine with its new general look, especially the replacement of the roman numerals (that I liked too but it gives now a quite different impression) Except concerning the PR chosen... Thanks for this comparision and I imagine ...
Well, I'm not much of a chrono guy, but...
... if I had to choose, I'd pick the newer version, only because the dial is a bit less cluttered without the roman numerals, and I like the extra space. But the original Dato is still a really nice watch (as far as chronos go). So for me, it would not be...

being a owner of the old Dato, i must admit that whilse the old one is still the definative Dato, the new version has substantial "upgrades" sufficient enough to make one feel like either changing or acquiring another piece. thanks for sharing, best, Horo
