You can even opt for a certain alloy - again if quantity is right.
I know of certain makers who like to work off the bar (mainly because of the mentioned tension) - others traditionally work with stamped raw
plates - heat treatement and so on....
Still "cross-laminated" sounds weird in this context - I can't think of what you'd gain with that. Certainly strength isn't an issue.
