I am watching the course of the industry ( and especially AP ) in the recent years.
Just look at the Royal oaks. In the beginning we had the 15300. Excellent movement with high- end look and hand made bevels on the bridges. Αfter they launched the 15400. Simplified clasp and ALMOST the samε movement . But the bevels αre machine cut as one can easily see ,and i doubt if there αre any bevels at all ,on the steel parts inside the movement. Finally we have now the 15500. A totally industrial movement which looks more like a panerai than an AP movement.
I am afraid that Offshore is going to follow a comparative downhill...

will take awhile for me to see one in person with no AP points of sale currently in Canada.
They do interesting things with stamped dials now.
Let us know if you find some info on the new dial's manufacture!

Also, is it me or is the AP logo like a decal or something? It's on a separate plate and the AP part is not cut out. Sorry, looks... Cheapened?
Yeah, on the 44 the "AP" letters were one piece but cut out right up against the outline of the letters instead of sitting on a bigger plate in top of the dial
That was IMO a more elegant solution. All the other Royal Oaks use that cut out AP. I don't mean to be a hater, I love the design and have often thought about picking up a ROO so it's frustrating to me that AP cheapens the model so much over the standard ...

EXACTLY !! The high end watch industry is moving towards cheaper -more industrial -less time consuming -less hand made solutions Especially for the basic models. Just wait to see the new Nautilus . It is going to be towards this direction ,too. But prices...
From this dial pic you have drawn all these conclusions 🤔
A manufacture chrono is the cheap solution? Maybe wait to see the watch in person before arriving at such a harsh assessment?

If the dial is made on hand controlled guilloche machines, I think you would likely see a circular
Motion across the dial like on the 15202... And I think you would also need a large base metal plate where the dial design, that of which is to be transferred to a small dial, is stored on. Maybe that is a cost that AP does not want to embark on... See th...
