I would keep the dial as is with the rust, trust me its very attractive that way to some collectors (like myself) and a sign that it has been through life and is flawed just like us, I find that very endearing,
Here is my watch from 72 (A series) with a faded dial and the AP logo having a bit of rust, hope you keep yours the same way and share pics of it with us when you get her back
