That's a bit of a tricky question...
Some people do not like buying used watches;on my side I do not like buying new ones 
Jokes apart, for me both watches are completely different, I find 39mm to be the perfect size for the RO and in this particular watch the most harmonious due to the proportions. I do not like the 41mm.
On used AP watches however, specially complicated ones like this model, I think it is paramount to check it to ensure it works fine. I have absolutely no complains with mine, I bought it with a few scratches on the bezel though, maybe one day I do something about it, nothing against signs of wear, I just like them to be made by me.
I think I bought my watch in that same range of price BTW, it's not a small amount and depending on your collection you may find a lot of nice options at that price point. For me it was ok, after all it's a super sexy and cool AP RO perpetual calendar!
