So I bought some wood veneer to customize the 007 DB5 door panels. I wasn't sure if I wanted a dark or light colored wood so I bought a few pieces to try them out.
Birch
Walnut
Indian Rosewood
Didn't care for any so I bought a Karalien Birch Burl. This one seemed to work.
After much sanding and MANY coats of lacquer, I had it fit just right into the door panel.
Then the very edge of it broke off. 🤪 So is life!
Start all over again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have considered adding leather...
I was gonna use actual leather but there is nothing thin enough to mold around the panels. I did, however, find a "simulated" leather grain sticker but you can't tell the difference because it's too small. I do LOVE your red, though!

I can imagine your feelings when that little chip appeared in your wood. Have you tried with simulated leather? I don’t know if it exists in hobby shops. Keep doing this great job with the assembly of this beautiful kit! Best! Abel

I actually bought real leather and tried to shave it down but it didn't work. Bought a cheap wallet, took it apart, soaked it in water, vacuum sealed it around the panel but it didn't conform. Bought some simulated leather "stickers" but the scale (1:24) ...
The texture on the doors are supposed to "simulate" leather …
but nothing beats the real thing, hence using actual burl wood for the door panel.
