The 928 GTS/ would have been a better comparison, but over a decade separates the two. There's no post-2000 Porsche that really lines up with any two-door Maserati has built in this Millennium. Historically, Maseratis were more like Italian Aston Martins than 1-for-1 Porsche or Ferrari rivals on the road. The last series-production Maser (i.e., no MC12 or 90s Barchetta) that seemed like an earnest pitch at the 911's performance image likely was the Shamal 20 years ago.
