I’ve had now a defender for 2 years and just sold mine.
As you the car is beautiful comfortable and a lot of good stuff, but be careful of the issues they come with, which I hope you don’t have to deal with.
I had 3 windshields crack in the middle of driving for no reason, there’s a forum for Land Rover defender and a lot of people complained about it, Land Rover didn’t even acknowledge it and I had to pay out of pocket 3 times.
My back door didn’t lock there was some issue with the mechanism, which they had to replace which took 2 days and they didn’t even wanna give me a loaner!
As I live in nyc I paid for subscription to have a remote start for the winter, the first month I went back to dealer twice and on the phone with them 10 times as it didn’t work at all, later the app constantly crashed, and half of the times it didn’t work.
I had my power steering fail multiple times and my screen go dead in the middle of driving, and my Bluetooth stoped working for some time as well.
My coolant constantly drained which I had to refil, I guess all land rovers drink coolant 🤷♂️ on a brand new car.
Last but not least which made me give up the vehicle from one day to the next, my coolant box holder whatever it’s called broke in the middle of driving 3 am and the car started smoking and I needed to get it towed, while they didn’t own up to it.
I wanna finish off that it’s a beautiful car, and if Land Rover would own up and give me the service I would of maybe thought of taking another one and give them another shot, but they were stuck up here in New York, never owned up to anything, didn’t give me a loaner and always blamed me, while their entire service center was packed of brand new vehicles that are towed.

It feels like a big heavy box with a growly engine. Which has it's unique appeal.
If I was going to buy the Defender it was only going to be the V8 and specifically either the Bond version or Carpathian. So I was patient and that patience paid off.
