Great Post. I keep a mix of photos and records for my cars.

I also have a Chevy Volt, and my mileage is more like 90% electric, so I change the oil every second annual PA state inspection on age alone. On my 1960 Buick, I do it every 2,000 miles or so, which usually corresponds to the start of spring. That car has 47,000 original miles, and I do my best to baby that aging but low-mileage Nailhead.

As far as records, I keep them for the Volt so I have reminders of when certain mileage and time-triggered services are necessary. With the 1960 Buick, I keep detailed records because its history is so well documented. It was owned by the original buyer's family until 2020, so I see myself as its new custodian, and I try to keep track of all work I do to it or have done professionally. I don't go overboard and document every gas fill the way some people do, but I want to continue the documented history of a car whose 66-year existence has been faithfully recorded in detail by three generations -- and I'm the fourth.

I also have photos. Here's me with my car and OJ Whatley, the owner of Watch-u-Want who first hired me in the watch industry in 2014. I hope to build many more memories around this car during the 2026 driving season.

Best Regards,
Tim
