I remember the Lotus Carlton well it was a beast of a car.
But I was always a fast Ford guy and before the Lotus Carlton came out I had a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth in moonstone blue but after the 4th attempt of it being stolen and the insurance becoming unreasonable I sold it. I think the Lotus Carlton actually had a higher top speed and of course was a proper 4 door super Salon. But both cars remind me a great times when you could still actually drive these type of cars on the road without too many problems. In today's world one trip would rack up enough points on your license for a ban.

In the then regular time, as also available in the R129 SL, for instance. Porsche had unused production and R&D capacity so both Audi and Mercedes jumped in. They also helped Skoda (before both became part of the VW empire), as well as Subaru for a while....
