Imagine this in Paris?!?

A very interesting article from Euronews: www.euronews.com s
The key discovery is normative drift: That AI agent actually follows the 'norms' dictated by the interactions of other AI agents. In other words, if the systemic interactions are generally characterized as 'dog eats dog' or 'zero-sum', then the AI agent will switch track--degenerate--even if it started off with a good alignment to key important values. To say this in another way, when the system degenerates, AI cannot act differently with any moral agency; it merely follows. Contrast this with what the Pope just described as the agency and dignity to do the non-obvious or the non-self-interested even in the face of structural disadvantages. As a driver, many times we 'live and let live' by taking a step back; we may lose some time and patience but an otherwise hazardous episode passes. Just imagine 'normative drift' in a collective of traffic agents dominated by AVs!
