Marketing Savvy

Ferrari has had an official YouTube page for about ten years now, posting a voluminous collection of interesting videos. The production costs are a mere pittance considering the huge gratis world wide exposure reaped from their videos on such a  mega media internet platform.

Brilliant !

Here are my top 6 personal favorites.

Eric Clapton Interview with Stephano Lai, Comminication Director of  Ferrari, S.p.A. :   As I recall 5 years ago, Ferrari custom built Clapton a very cool one-off special order car (SP12 EC) based on a 458 Italia, with styling cues from the 512 Boxer and the Enzo. The cost to Clapton was rumored to be a paltry $3 Million Pounds.

Jacques Villeneuve Takes His Father's Legend Back On The Track :

Enzo Ferrari In The Time Machine :

F1 Clienti - My F2000 Is Incredible : Only Ferrari could come up yet another ingenious marketing plan, and make a hefty profit as well. For a brief moment, place yourself in their minds. We have all of these very expensive dated F1 cars sitting in a Maranello warehouse collecting dust. To preserve our heritage, we prefer not to sell them, but it would be nice to squeeze some extra revenue from them. We can display them in our museum, but after expenses, we probably end up losing money on that deal. Why don't we approach some of our most fabulously wealthy properly vetted clientele, and offer to "lease" them a modern era F1 car ? We will make the proper arrangements to have a proposed amount of track days every year at race circuits of our choice, fly in a factory crew with the proper equipment, allow our clients to make believe they are F1 Pilotos for a day, and we then take everything back to Maranello. Upon their return, we properly service them, safely tuck them away back in our warehouse and we still own the cars! Of course, there is a rather hefty service fee for all this, but our wealthy clients are ecstatic to pay for such a priviledge. smile  Stunning.

Ferrari FXX K - The Making Of : IMHO, the coolest bad ass modern era Ferrari ever made . I wish I had one parked in my garage, clear title in my name, not leased. smile

Valentino Rossi At The Wheel of a Ferrari  488 Pista :

To conclude, as a humble suggestion, it might not be a bad idea for the marketing gurus at Modena to have an amicable sit down with Maurizio over at Maranello, persuading him to be a tiny bit more friendly to the international press that covers F1.  After all, it is all about marketing, n'est pas ?  Just sayin'... wink

Cheers,

Rocky
