funny story: my girlfriend lived on a hill, I would have to back the Fiat 850 up the hill with the nose pointed down hill. Why you ask: because I could pop the clutch when it wouldn’t start. I’m sure her parents were thrilled with me dating their daughter...

But I had my XC at the time, and there was a class action suit in the US -- Volvo was blamed for putting extremely low profile tyres and soft alloy wheels on the car when they knew our roads are crappy :-( Tires that were like rubber bands, not pneumatic ...  

The original Pirelli tires were terrible but fortunately tires never lasted over 20k km with the car and the raft of Dunlops later worked a treat. I did break one rim during a road trip in Serbia, though 😱 As you can see from. The other post mine was a bl...

From the wheezy 1.8 5 valve engine to the 2,3 liter turbo. In the A4 I needed to drive with the sunroof open due to the car being without AC. An hour of that at 200 km/h and the ears would ring for 3 😂 No such issues with the T-5R 😉

.. my parents didn't agree so they got me a brand-new 1988 VW Jetta 1.8 90 hp for 920 kilos was pretty fast in those days, I had for 11 years and put 289.000 km on the clock. At that point the engine was very very very exhausted and done . This car saw so...  

.. and brought it back alive in 2000 for a clandestine drive to pick up my girlfriend (MP) at work. She wasn't really impressed with the car I guess . After that I stored it again and let go of it after a year or so :-( Since then I haven't driven a Mk2 G...

I really miss that car, even more than I miss my Jetta :-(.

We were considering getting a 240D of the same W123 generation to drive all the way to Syria and back (when this was still possible). Sadly we never managed to get around to it 🤷🏻‍♂️
