Finally the production ready car !!! Some quick facts: Weight from 1360 kilos. 3 power units ... 95/120 or 150 hp. The 150 hp does a 0-62 mph in less than 8 seconds which is plenty quick for our crazy traffic. Pretty long wheelbase (around 2500 mm) and mu...  

The production can be much more automated and less workers, faster and easier production etc. I understand they are being pushed by the industry, but I’m having a hard time accepting electric cars.

Even had a friend who travelled from Portugal to Spain in one. But it is still an ordeal. In less populated areas the car had to divert from the trip in different locations to find charging stations etc.

He told me that the car knows where are the charging stations and diverts all by itself if it needs charging but still, it’s not like stopping in a gas station for 5 minutes along the way.

It would be tiring but definitely doable in 2 days with a petrol car. I still can’t wrap my head around electric cars, in each change in car technology the products were superior to the former ones, with pure electric it seems to me that it’s still not th... 

In these 3 years, I used a public charger twice. Took me about 5 minutes bith times, then I had enough juice to make it home. The driving experience is far superior. No noise or vibration, more comfort, no gas stations. And way more power!

like when you hear someone breathing, or a heartbeat, you know they’re alive. The same thing with the usual engine noises. But i’m better accustomed now.

Not for me though as I live in a city center in Europe where a car for me is just a headache. Only times I use a car is when I drive to far away beaches or to mountains for skiing etc. So for me electric is still not there with ice cars yet, however I’m s... 

The biggest issue is that IF you need to recharge at a public charger, it requires planning and it is a headache. This needs to change. Once in every village there is a charger and you just go there or drive 5 km to the next one, then it is truly no probl... 

.. in a little town ... an old Peugeot diesel parked in front of a public charger, you see this very often. Shitty people make things even worser :-(

... although in my case it's not a big issue to be honest. I like driving an Electric car ... as long as I can go back to one of my other cars ;-) If I buy this R5 or the A290 ... if .... I will most certainly keep the Megane .. and the Clio off course ..... 

Autonomy is 400 km ... so let's say 350 km if you drive 'normal' (slow). But you can charge from 15 to 80 % in half an hour. Off course I would not buy an EV if it was to be my one and only car.

Fun is possible ... maybe not like a petrol car. Looks ... any car can look good.

I doubt we'll get it in the USA, but I hope that a "Turbo 5" follows. Porsche proved that "Turbo" means "more."

the R5T/A290 is more Renault kind of beauty and not Alpine kind of gorgeous.

Not sure about Renault but Alpine definitely wants to go to the US ... albeit no A110 petrol and not sure about this R5. Alpine wants to build an electric A110 and a couple of bigger EV.

...just read the specs and top speed is limited to 150 kph ... 93 mph ... yikes. Now I honestly have to say that me doing speeds over 100 mph these days are very rare. Apart from a few exceptions ... Or maybe I should just start drinking .... more ;-) ...  

I enjoyed my Renault 5 Turbo as an urban “roller skate”, very effective. Times have changed and the torque provided by an electric car in the uncompromising urban environment makes a lot of sense. As for a chilled beer, sounds good to me 🍻😉 ...  

I remember seeing a blue one at a car show as a kid. I begged my dad to buy it but to no avail 🙁.

Apparently there is even room for a second electric motor at the rear.

Modern times so only EV unfortunately .

Seen it and driven it. It’s a good looking car but I had two problems with it. Firstly the driving position is compromised by not having sufficient space to place your left foot whilst driving, quite bazar and a design error. Secondly, it’s expensive comp... 

This one I could sit in. ...  

Although brand-loyal drivers are apparently quite angry.

I love the nostalgia of the past and still own and enjoy cars from previous era’s. Remember that originally they were all new once.

And ride my HD 883 every once in a while, I'm perfectly ok with electric cars. Use them often at work.

But the range is simply ridiculous. I guess with this R5 you will be able to drive at least 300 km, which means I will be able to do quite more ;-) .... and on some occasions considerably less

The problem of putting electric motors and batteries into tiny chassis that weren't meant for that! A bit early in my opinion.

Especially with the weight! What I would not like is the high seating position. Ps: Drove a Megane Electric around 1/2 year ago! Driving electric cars is really cool!! It can be also engaging! But I need a longer range - especially for winter season! And ... 

Where I live (Flanders) we don't have cold Swiss winters. Okay, we have a few month temps around 5°C but most of the time it's between 10 and 20. I really consider buying the R5 or A290 in one or 2 years ... as a second (3rd) car. So autonomy is not that ...

The first Renault in a looong time. The last one was probably the Clio 16V from when I was a young guy (and a reckless driver).

Yes the 16V was epic, but not the last real fun Renault. The son of the 16V (and Williams)was the Mark 2 Clio 172 and 182. Then came the brilliant Clio 3 RS which I own since 2010. There were also a bunch of epic Meganes.
