For recreational diving, the enjoyment and safety is greatly enhanced by a dive computer over the square profile of tables- timer-depth gauge.
(That said, for my technical diving, all I use is a schedule on wetnotes, a bottom timer/depth gauge. I've tried an X1 mixed gas computer, which is interesting, but I can't help but feel it's a little agressiv compared to the tables)
At least this one has a Maximum Depth hand, unlike the JLC gauge.
But where I must disagree with you is your choice of Thailand, I'd be off to the Philippines
