I think the veil is rather meritorious as a tool for analysis and testing outcomes. Rawls' approach is far from flawless, but it still does a lot of really interesting work.

I've gotten into Chapter III most recently. Definitely a lot of interesting content to think about but clearly Rawls didn't embark on a mission of enthralling his reader!
