Wonderful news.
First off, welcome back your Fifty — what a faithful companion after 14 years, and now refreshed with new bezel, hands, and barrels. She looks terrific, and that X71 is a serious upgrade.
On your clasp question: what you’re describing with the stamped foldover sounds not quite right. The foldover should provide a secondary lock — meaning you shouldn’t be able to pop the clasp open cleanly without first disengaging that foldover tab. If yours is opening without resistance, it could mean the little engagement pins aren’t biting properly, or there’s some wear/defect in the stamped section.
Blancpain has gone through a couple iterations of the X71 clasp over the years — the older stamped version is known to feel a bit less secure than the newer milled clasps. That said, it still shouldn’t behave like a simple friction closure.
If it were mine, I’d bring it back to the boutique or service center and have them check the clasp tolerances. They may be able to adjust or replace just that foldover piece. Peace of mind is worth it, especially when your Fifty has been on the journey with you this long.
And let me just add — seeing that watch still by your side after all these years really highlights why Blancpain nailed it with the 5015. Tool, companion, memory keeper — all in one.
