I'd prefer 38-39 to 40 as well. But I tried it on this last Friday
and it was OK. The sales advisor said that people wanted this size, and that I'm "a big guy," so that the size is right. I'm a 7.25" wrist and not heavy. Most of my watches are below 40mm. So his comment didn't come out as a compliment, though I know he meant to be nice!!

Love the grand feu enamel dial, not to mention that sunken subdial to add that little bit of depth and character to what is already a gorgeous dial. Pity about the 40mm size, wished it was of a more classic proportion. I guess the thinness makes up for it...

I always liked this one. For what it is, a superb and very elegant time keeper with an enamel dial at a time enamel watches were quite rare.

A big fan of this watch, but 40mm and the lugs make it wear too large for me to use as a dress watch. The details are great though.
A fair point. However, if you notice, Breguet made the numerals more bold and slightly larger versus the 5140 to take up the space better.
I think it really works, but each eye will have to judge.
