I do love that the Cartier is a true sports watch since it has a 100m waterrproof rating. Must admit, been looking at the Santos series a bit more seriously today, yet am waiting for the H. Moser Streamliner Purple Haze so that comes first. ...  

All typical metal watches scratch when worn. So yes, if you wear a timepiece like a tool watch it will scratch up usually.
