Chopard

Actually, women do care

piccolochimico,

If you read the interview with Caroline Scheufele (URL link in original post), she answered this specific question.
About 50% of watch revenue is from women's watches and the demand for mechanical movements has been increasing recently. From simple automatic movements to extra flat mechanisms and tourbillons, movements made originally for men have been squeezed into big watches for women.
Although big watches allow more room for gem setting, there is also increasing demand for petite watches with Chopard mechanical movements. wink

Caroline Scheufele addressed my postulate that "ladies were told to be contented with the simplicity and ease of quartz movements" with a laugh.
No doubt, there are women (and men) who prefer quartz movements and manufacturers will accomodat that ish. But the opportunity to imbue more luxury attributes to beautiful mechanical movements is driving the new demand from ladies.

The extra option gives the designer moe scope in thir designs.

Another family-owned watch brand in Geneva produces 15% of their watches with quartz movements; all are one model for women but even they are considering mechanical movements for ladies watches....maybe...some time in the future....possibly..... smile

MTF
