p.boxter,

Thanks for the reminder of a classic L.U.C watch and Happy New Year!

L.U.C Tourbillon 2003

The L.U.C Tourbillon was launched in 2003 as a culmination of development in making mechanical movements at Chopard Manufacture, up to that point.

First was the L.U.C 1.96 base micro-rotor autowinding movement (1996), followed by the L.U.C 1.98 manual wind movement with Quattro® four-barrel mainsprings (1998).

The next step was the L.U.C 1.02T movement developed in 2002 used in the rose gold L.U.C Tourbillon launched at Baselworld for 2003.

At that time, it was the first 8-Day Going Tourbillon wristwatch for Chopard. The actual power reserve is longer but "capped" by Chopard at 8 days to ensure reasonable precision as the power winds down.

It's so long ago that we have contact prints from a Fuji Film colour slide!!!!  smile

The tourbillon cage was attached from a polished rectangular bridge that was based on the shape of an old L.U.C logo.

You can see the L.U.C logo stamped on the movement bridge.

The movement was renamed L.U.C 02.01-L recently for unification of movement reference numbers.

L.U.C 02.01-L
