Friends, PuristS, Chopardistas,
As the winter nights are drawing closer, I have taken to curling up on my sofa with a glass (or two) of fine malt whisky and my (current) personal Web-browsing device.
Our PuristS website has grown exponentially since 2001 and even I cannot keep up with all the posts.
Looking through the Chopard forum, I'm still finding old posts and articles about the L.U.Chopard Journey Through Time. Come -- Join me on a walkabout in the 20th year of Chopard Manufacture.

L.U.Ceum, Fleurier
The L.U.Chopard Museum in Fleurier is a good place to start. it was opened in 2006 and it has been joined by a similar museum in Geneva since 2014.
Wondrous exhibits include marine chronometers by the Berthoud Dynasty, minute repeaters and chronographs by many of the Horological Greats, including early Chopard timepieces.

watches and some very Striking Items.
Check out the Beehive logo on the older stamping tools from the Chopard family heritage as beekeepers.

Vintage L.U.C
The German advertising logo at the bottom says, "L.U.C Quality Watches; formerly [Beehive] brand".

Attention to case and movement decoration is not a new phenomenon.at Chopard

Vintage EsZeHa
Do not forget the Scheufeles brought old expertise from their original watchmaking business EsZeHa that included bracelet making, fine decoration and enamelling.

EsZeHa special miniature

Vintage EsZeHa
EsZeHa was famous for both Ladies' and Gents' timepieces.
Check out the fountain pen that was used to sign the agreement to buy Chopard from Paul-Andre Chopard in 1963.

Vintage Chopard Gem Setting
BEFORE Chopard produced any jewellery, they had already practiced with gem-set watches and dials of semi-precious stone in the 1960s and 1970s.
Chopard jewellery business did not start until 1985. Even today, revenue from watches outweighs jewellery.
So repeat after me: "Chopard was and is foremost a Watchmaker!"
But the revenue from jewellery is also pretty good! (hehehe)

Time Waits for No One
From the above patrimony, Chopard embarked on their L.U.C Journey in 1996 to bring movements like these....

L.U.C Lunar One

Calibre L.U.C 63.01-L
from the pocket watch movement for the School of Watchmaking in Geneva, thus looking after Education for our Future.

Calibre L.U.C 06.01-L

Calibre L.U.C 03.07-L Chronograph
PuristS will recognise our special movement from the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition

Modern L.U.C
Chronometry at L.U.C is paramount and ALL watches with a seconds hand MUST satisfy the C.O.S.C. no matter how complicated.
Every Tourbillon, Perpetual Calendar, Regulator, Chronograph, High Frequency Chronometer and Grand Complication is subjected to this....no ifs...no buts....just so.
The test movement above is a FAIL, by the way, using Chopard internal standards.
