"Gentlemen, please start your engines"… These words marked the official start of the 10th Monaco Historic Grand Prix on May 13th, under a sunny sky. This unique event - that runs every two years - is one of the best classic car races in Europe. Chopard served as the official timekeeper at this famous circuit car race, which attracted over 30 000 spectators from all over the world.

The tenth edition of the most prestigious event on the classic racing circuit took place from May 13th to 15th 2016. Every two years, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique brings together drivers and devotees of historical cars for a competition driven on vintage racing cars. Chopard has been serving as sponsor and official timekeeper of the event since 2002, a natural alliance for a maison, whose vocation for high-precision timekeeping is synonymous with a passion for fine mechanical engineering.

Monaco’s racing track is one the most renowned and demanding in the world.
Each category in the race celebrated winners from all over the world. All winning drivers received a Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 timepiece during the prize-giving gala dinner hosted by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.
Renowned driverss and Chopard ambassadors, Jacky Ickx, Mark Webber, Romain Dumas and Brendon Hartley also took part in the event.
Jacky Ickx, Romain Dumas and Brendon Hartley had a fantastic experience driving the parades on the famous circuit of Monaco. They put their helmet on and gave two special runs in unique single-seater racing cars from the most prestigious car makers like Bentley, Bugatti and above all Porsche, truly classic racing legendary vehicles.
For each edition of the Grand Prix since 2002, Chopard has created dedicated timepieces. The Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 watches, issued in limited editions of 500 in stainless steel and titanium and 100 in 18K rose gold, are authentic driver’s instruments created for gentlemen drivers. Available on a NATO or a leather strap, these COSC-certified chronographs are imbued with the technical spirit of classic racing and are designed to support drivers during this exceptional competition.
