2000: I have been having such an enjoyable time here.
I can't believe it, I have actually reached "2000" posts.
Under these circumstances, it seemed logical to remind everyone how great a site this was and how pleasent and friendly the members were.
I came to watches in a rather slow manner, a Rolex sub from my Dad for my graduation from law school and many years later a Chronograph Portuguese for my 40th birthday and then from then on it all goes down hill.
As fas as the first Rolex was concerned, I had no choice my Dad it was that or nothing. I guess that after all he was the one paying.
The 40th birthday present was more of a challenge, what does one want and how much does one intend to spend. My wife got me the watch, but we did discuss it beforehand.
At that stage of my life, I figure I was more interested in watches for what they looked like. I guess I still do, but I have moved on a little and this is where PuristSPro comes into play.
No need to go into details on what I have bought over the years, suffice to say that once you are on the way to getting a third of forth watch and/or spending more money, you give a little more attention to what you are doing.
The big question for me was who do you turn to for advice??? I started surfing and by luck landed on PuristSPro, don't ask me how I don't remember. All I can say is that the large quantity of information available made me start viewing watches under a different light.
Suddenly movements became important, then there were dials, brands, history, LE's, cases, etc, etc.
I never stop to marvel at the posts that some of our moderators and members post on watches that they love or admire. It is a very pleasent distraction for me to connect to PuristSPro once or twice a day and read some of the posts that have popped up.
I especially like the mentality of the members and the moderators that are always so friendly and willing to provide sound and objective advice.
PuristSPro is a great forum and I just wanted everyone to know my feelings and my gratitude to the members and moderators of this site in helping me with my journey into the wild world of watches and watch making.
Best regards,
George
PS. My biggest helpers will of course recognize themselves.
