IWC

A classic pilot chronograph 3717-01

This was my first quality/ Swiss watch. I have had it ~14 years. It was a daily watch for a few years. Over time it has gotten less and less wrist time. Not for lack of enjoyment, but I wear my trusty omega to work most days, so my other watches fight for night and weekend duty. I have changed the strap that it came with for another iwc pilot strap from later chrono, and added iwc deployant. Maybe in summer will throw it back in the iwc nato.

For me, the dial is exactly pilot. I like these hands better than the earlier variants. Very legible, black and white with hint of red. Timeless case design. Later version got larger which I didn't like, whereas now they have come down in size. Early on I wish it were a newer model with in house iwc movement. I never sell or trade watches , so it didn't bother me enough to add another. Now it matters zero. Maybe part of the charm. A valjoux to iwc specification, with some enhancements is great. My daughter was playing with it and dropped it, putting a dent in the case. So in 2018 I sent it to iwc for overhaul and they laser welded that spot, it came back brand new. It had gone 10y keeping time just fine.

My tastes have changed away from iwc, but I do keep an eye on them. Some of their ceramic watch are interesting, but I don't like how the back is often steel or ti (or whatever).

Thanks, Kevin
