Why are some movements more robust than others?
Is it the material that they are made from, is it the delicate nature of the assembly or the type of complication that the watch is designed for or maybe the shock system of one watch is better then another?
What should we reasonably expect from our timepieces?
There has always been a question mark over playing golf or in my case splitting logs!!
But should we be able to wear them, while go running, playing football or any other type of physical pursuits?
I have no concerns in say wearing a chronograph, while out running, but would it be a wise to wear a perpetual calendar performing the same activity?
Are manual wind watches more robust the automatics, come to that are simple complication pieces more robust then those who have several complications
Please forgive the number of questions, and if some are a bit straight forward. I just wish to avoid making the same mistake again and at the same time try and understand the complicated nature of these movements.
Regards
Tony
