A small escape to Slovenia.

Slovenia is not far from Trieste. Around 12 Kilometers and you cross the border.

One of the good reasons to go to Slovenia, Toblerone, gaz and cigarettes apart, is that you have some cool and fine places.

Here a picture of a wine yard, on the heights of Portoroz:

And the seaside resort:

Here you can feel the austrian influence, in the architecture.

After a good afternoon spent on the beach, we went close to Portoroz, in a charming village called Piran ( Pirano for the italians, as many names are in Slovenian, but also in italian , in this part of the country.

Piran is typical from this part of Slovenia called Istria. When you know a bit Muggia, Rovinj, Dignano, and so on, you are not disoriented. The influence from the romans and Venezia is clear and strong.

From far away, it is quite promising.

And it is!

The typical istrian place.

The narrow and colorful streets.

If you climb, you will see that it is worth the effort. The scenery is breathtaking:

And it is at only 3 or 4 kilometers from Portoroz!

So, if you are in the nearby, don't miss the opportunity to visit these places.

Best,

Nicolas
